NICE TO MEET YOU

I’M MADDIE IVERSON

I am a multi-passionate designer & seamstress; also the brains/hands/imagination behind Dove Creek Studio.

I grew up on a small sheep farm in the country where I was surrounded by nature, animals, & beautiful flowers. I spent my time painting, reading, writing music, & building little leaf boats for the fairies in the creek behind my parent’s house. Magic was always around me & I went where the wind blew me.

A dreamer at heart, I find inspiration in grand adventures & life’s little pleasures. As an avid gamer, I love strategy board games & video games alike. I love to read fantasy books, sing karaoke, hike local trails, & go wine tasting on the weekends. I travel the world whenever I can & relish exploring other lands & cultures. I do my best to bring my joy of living to all the things I do.

I currently live with my husband of seven years, my cat Snowball, & my border collie Rowan on a one acre farm in Hubbard, Oregon. We are currently in process of planting a cut flower garden on our farm & I am looking forward to being able to use these flowers & greens for your future events.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Great design is beautiful, purposeful, & story-driven.

Great design is not just about looks & aesthetics, but in how people use items & experience places.

Often less is more, but not at the sake of having fun.

One can find joy & beauty in unexpected places.

No event is too small or too extravagant.

The event industry can be wasteful: sustainability shouldn’t just be considered, but strived for.

Local is always best.

design background

While I am primarily a self taught designer/artist/seamstress, I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Apparel Design from Oregon State University (go Beavs!) with minors in business & entrepreneurship.

I originally went to university to pursue graphic design, however, at this point, I was already working as a freelance graphic designer, so I found myself switching majors to learn more about fashion, business, & the larger world of design. I taught myself to sew & began work as a seamstress & fashion designer.

I first learned techniques of floristry & floral design while in high school through our local FFA program. At the time this was a hobby for me, but I always thought it was something I would eventually return to. Six years ago, I started designing wedding flowers for a few family & friends, but I fell in love with the process & working one-on-one with brides & one thing led to another & here I am with another career I fell in love with. I have now worked on countless weddings over the years & have provided services in almost every aspect of the industry from floral design to wedding planning to alterations to invitation design & beyond.

Other Work

While working in the fashion industry, I had a chance to travel and work in London, as well as here in the states. I eventually started my own slow fashion line called O’ Field Apparel where I design & sew everything myself. I also work as a freelance graphic & web designer at maddieiverson.com.
